coming to Australian Credit Cards - 30/05/08
CREDIT card holders will have the option
of using a PIN instead of a signature when making
purchases from June 4.
The option will not attract a fee and customers can
still use their signature to verify transactions if
they prefer.
Project manager for the industry-based initiative
Simon Greig said the change would make it faster to
make a purchase with a credit
card.
Previously PIN numbers were limited to ATMs, but
now they will be available at the point of sale.
